IT Infrastructure Management
IT Infrastructure Management services consist of professional services, remote managed services, and/or a combination of remote and on-site (hybrid) managed services for local/wide area network (LAN/WAN), wireless LAN (WLAN) and host/server systems.
1901 Group uses the three general categories of services labeled as monitored, managed, and optimized to describe the range of processes that comprise the spectrum of ITIL-based tasks associated with enterprise IT infrastructure management.
• Monitored is used to describe scopes of work where 1901 Group primarily complements our customer’s IT resources through a range of availability and capacity reporting, trending, and analytics.
• Managed is used to describe scopes of work where 1901 Group performs more of the ITIL tasks and processes, including: configuration management, change management, release management, and problem management.
• Optimized is used to describe scopes of work where 1901 Group performs the majority of ITIL tasks and processes including those involved in Monitored and Managed scopes, as well as Business Impact Analysis and Continuous Improvement functions.
The technical device classes involved in IT infrastructure management include: LAN/WAN and wireless LAN (WLAN). LAN/WAN and WLAN are defined as follows:
• LAN/WAN services – The LAN/WAN service provides design, implementation, and sustainment of infrastructure through monitoring and management of a customer’s LAN/WAN infrastructure from 1901 Group’s remote operations centers. 1901 Group provides network management services including fault management, trouble resolution and continuous, proactive monitoring of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and network equipment.
• WLAN services – Wireless LAN is an extension of the customer’s local area network that includes IEEE 802.11 compliant Wireless Access Points and their communication with edge devices, such as wireless phones and wireless network interface cards (NICs) in laptops and other devices. The wireless LAN service requires that the wired LAN also be under 1901 Group management. 1901 Group provides design, implementation, and remote in-band monitoring and management of a customer’s wireless LAN infrastructure from 1901 Group’s remote network operations centers. The wireless LAN service supports standard configurations of Cisco Wireless Access Points.
